The nature of giving back resonates differently to various people. To some individuals giving back means having liquid cash while to others it is how best they can use their skill, knowledge and time to help and bring change.
Kenya was ranked as the most generous country in Africa and 11th most generous in the world in the World Global Index report 2019 done by the Charities Aid Foundation. As a country Giving back is engraved in our culture. The art of coming together to support our families and friends is often assumed as a responsibility on our side but in retrospect, it's us being generous.
Many people underestimate the impact that they have been able to make to other people’s lives and even to the community. Stories of giving inspire others and encourage the giving heart. At the East Africa Philanthropy Network, are running the #MyGivingStory campaign to help share with the nation and the world why we give, how we give and what impact our Giving back has done in our local communities.
MyGivingStory Campaign entails sharing of short stories by organizations, groups and individuals on that which inspires them to give back and how they have been able to go about bringing the change and the positive impact it has brought in their community.
The collected stories will be shared on the official GivingTuesday Kenya site and to support the work and initiatives already being run by the participants. As part of the encouragement to share the stories both in written in short video formats, there will be an incentive to the most retweeted and commented on videos on Twitter.
Submissions of stories and videos are ongoing. Send your video to: firstname.lastname@example.org before December 2, 2019. The campaign ends on December 3rd at 12.00 Midnight EAT.
Welcome to be part of our movement aimed at promoting global generosity and sharing stories on giving that will help improve and solidify the giving culture that already exists.
